About the Event
30 years ago, Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web. For his next project, he's building the next generation web for open, linked data that could do for numbers what the Web did for words, pictures, video: unlock our data and reframe the way we use it together.
Solid (Social Linked Data) is the technology that underpins a movement, being led by Sir Tim Berners-Lee (TBL) to re-orient the web to its original vision. Solid was initially a research project in MIT lead the TBL and was officially introduced to the world in October 2018.
Blockfest Community is the first developer community to introduce Solid to developers in Toronto. This meetup is intended for everyone who is interested in exploring Solid, building things on top of that or just learning new things. It is important to note that Solid is NOT a blockchain technology.
